The requirements of LNG engine for the applicable lubricant

First, suitable sulfate ash content

Need to choose suitable sulfate ash (to be lower than the index of ordinary internal combustion engine oil), which can prevent engine explosion and early combustion, reduce engine valve system wear, and not to cause piston ring and top ring groove carbon accumulation.

Second, excellent cleanliness and dispersibility

The choice of high-efficiency clean dispersant and low ash/alkali ratio can ensure that the valve system, piston, spark plugs and other components always maintain a high degree of cleanliness, reduce the generation of carbon and other precipitates, to avoid the ignition caused by carbon buildup in spark plugs and other engine failures, especially high-temperature dispersion, in which the proportion of ash-free high-temperature clean dispersant is higher than that of gas and diesel engine oil, to ensure the normal operation of the engine. It can also control the growth of oil viscosity and soot by EGR exhaust gas circulation device.

Third, excellent anti-corrosion performance

It has good total alkali value maintenance ability, which ensures that the engine will not produce too much sludge, carbon and other harmful substances in the working process, and it can neutralize the acid produced by gas fuel in the combustion process at any time, reducing the corrosion and wear caused by acid to the engine piston, cylinder liner and bearings of copper-lead alloy.

Fourth, excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and anti-nitrification ability

As LNG engine has higher heat load, mixed flame propagation and longer flame duration, coupled with dilute fuel combustion, it is very easy to generate aldehydes, ketones, acids, ester oxides and nitrides, and the oxidation and nitrification of oil accelerates the aging and deterioration of oil. Therefore, the antioxidant and anti-nitrification requirements of the oil are extremely high.

Fifth, good lubrication performance

Since LNG enters the cylinder in gaseous state, it does not have liquid lubrication function. LNG is more pure than CNG, so its own lubrication performance is worse, and it is extremely easy to wear the valve system components, and the special lubricating oil can play the role of preventing the valve and valve seat from wearing.

Sixth, lower phosphorus content

Special lubricating oil controls lower phosphorus content to reduce the pollution of automobile exhaust three-way catalyst.

Seventh, excellent rust prevention performance

Good rust prevention can effectively prevent the engine copper-lead alloy bearing from rusting and corrosion wear.

Eighth, high quality base oil

Base oil requires deep refinement, stable quality, high viscosity index, good oxidation stability and nitration stability to ensure extended service life of the oil.

In short, the special characteristics of LNG engines determine their high requirements for lubricant quality. Ordinary lubricating oil does not meet its needs, not only will it deteriorate in advance, but also may cause wear and tear of various parts, which can neither play the role of oil effectively, but also affect the service life of engine.
